How can I Find Salvage I Wish to Purchase?
There are a number of ways you can search for Salvage on the web site:
These links will display a list of all the salvage that is currently listed on the web site.
This link will display a list of salvage that our Members have categorised as being specialist or premium brand vehicles (please note our Members may also place premium brand vehicles within their normal auctions).
These links display categorised salvage our Members currently have on auction. Any salvage that does not fit into one of our main categories will be included within HGV & Plant.
This link displays a 2 week calendar of auctions our Members have coming up. You can view all the lots a Member has listed by clicking their link on this page. If the search page shows 'No Results' then the Member hasn't uploaded any vehicles to this particular auction as yet.
At the top of the Search Results page there are a number of boxes you can use to help you search for salvage you are interested in purchasing. You can display only vehicles of a certain make or those from a Member in a particular Region etc or you can type keywords such as 'Corsa' or 'Megane' to narrow down your search results.
You can also use a drop down box to list the salvage lots in a particular order ie 'Closing Time', 'Manufacturer', 'Year of Registration'.
Will Salvage Market Email me when New Salvage is added to the Web Site?
Yes we operate a service called 'Notify Me!' that you can access from the 'My Account' page once you are logged in. You can stipulate what type of salvage you want to be notified about and which locations you are prepared to travel to. The service uses Keywords in the same way as a search engine so you can tell it what you are looking for. If you want to be notified when a 'Citroen Picasso' is added to the auction you should enter the keyword 'Picasso', a single keyword will provide you with the best results.
How do I Bid on an Item I Wish to Purchase?
Salvage Market operates a Proxy Bidding Auction with the highest bidder winning the item providing the Auction Reserve has been met. Placing a proxy bid means that you are stating the amount that you are willing to pay up to for the item, and that if the single bid you place is outbid, that you want an automatic bid to be placed on your behalf up to the amount you have stated and in £10 increments.
For Example: A Lot you are interested in shows a 'Highest Bid' of £1200, you decide that you are willing to pay up to £1500 for the salvage lot. When you place your bid of £1500 the 'Highest Bid' may go up to £1260 this would tell you that the previous Highest Bidder had placed a Proxy Bid of £1250 for the Lot. The bids on all auctions increase in £10 increments so you might get a new bidder placing a bid of £1300 for this Lot but the auction would show your Highest Bid now as £1310 and you would still be winning the Lot. If nobody else bids for the Lot you will win it for £1310, the only way you will lose it is if a buyer bids £1510 or more which is above your maximum bid of £1500. You will be notified by email that you have been outbid and the auction page will be updated if this happens. You will then have the chance to increase your bid if you wish but you may only have 30 seconds to place a new bid if the auction is due to expire.
If you win the auction, the price you pay will be the current highest bid and not the proxy bid limit you placed (unless you are bid up to that amount by another bidder). Please Note if the auction you bid on has a Reserve the Proxy Bid you place will automatically increase upto your limit or the Reserve price whichever is the smaller. For Example: You bid £1500 on a lot you are interested in that displays the message 'Reserve Not Met' even though there are no other bids the Highest Bid displayed may go from a starting bid of £100 straight to £1300 this would tell you that the reserve price was £1300. The message displayed will now say 'Reserve has been Met' and the only way you will lose this auction is if another buyer bids £1510 or more. Reserve prices are not available to view. If the Highest bid goes straight to £1500 and still displays the message 'Reserve Not Met' you will need to bid a higher amount to win the auction as the Reserve must be higher than your Proxy Bid.
There is a Buyers Premium of 2.5% of the winning bid or £20 whichever is the greater, to be paid when you pay for the item you have won. The Buyers Premium is Subject to VAT.
Salvage Market Operates an Auto-Extension Auction, What is This?
It is an auction that is extended beyond its provisional closing time by 30 seconds every time a new bid is placed. The Auto Extension only occurs when bids are placed in the final 30 seconds of an auction and will continue to auto-extend in 30 second windows until no further bids have been placed.

How do I Deal with Vehicle Issues?
When at the Members site it is vitally important that you check the salvage to ensure that you are satisfied with its condition before you remove it from the site. Removal of the salvage from the site is your statement that you are happy with your purchase. This applies whether you collect the salvage personally or appoint a third party to collect on your behalf and no refunds or compensation will be discussed after this time.
Should any material issues be identified with the salvage, please discuss these with the Member Site. Any vehicle which is refused must be for a material reason such as:
Vehicles will not be released from Member sites until they are paid for in full by cleared funds
How can I View or Inspect an Auction Lot?
Please contact the Member directly to view the salvage Lot. We recommend customers try to view vehicles prior to bidding on them; all salvage vehicles are "sold as seen". The photographs and Damage Description are for guidance only, however our Members endeavour to ensure that the details provided are to the best of their ability.
Will the Vehicle be Supplied with a Registration Document V5?
We aim to provide a V5 for all cat D, X & U vehicles if stated they are in our possession within the vehicle description. No cat C vehicle will be supplied with a V5, as some of these vehicles are subject to a VIC check. On completion of the check the DVLA will provide a new V5. If you are unsure if a VIC check is needed then please contact VOSA. Please note that false VIN plates must be corrected prior to the vehicle being used on the road.
